May 26 2025: Haiti and Brazil Cooperation in the District of Lascahobas via Rive and UNILA

On May 26, 2025, Professor Wagner Texeira from UNILA will hold a seminar on the theme of Haiti and Brazil Cooperation in the District of Lascahobas via Rive and UNILA. It will be an opportunity for teachers, young professionals, and students in the District of Lascahobas to learn about UNILA, Brazil's rich cultural and linguistic heritages, the partnership between UNILA and Rive, and the academic opportunities that UNILA, as a Federal Brazilian, makes available to the larger Caribbean community, including Haiti. This seminar, which is part of a week of activities including a week of intensive Portuguese courses, will contribute to bringing further closer Brazil and Haiti, but more particularly UNILA and RIVE with regard to the partnership that engages Rive as an NGO and UNILA as a federal Brazilian academic institution.

UNILA has published a note concerning the situation in Haiti. Haitians express their gratitude to UNILA for sharing its plights and the understanding that the current chaos that the country has been plunged into lately does not define Haitians as people but instead represents the challenges that the country continues to face to find its way toward progress since its independence in 1804, a chaos that is largely supported and exacerbated by the implications of foreign countries.

UNILA has made a page available in Haitian Creole to support the education of Haitians in Brasil
